Governments' response to the INCB Questionnaire "Evaluation of the implementation of the international drug control treaties"

At its recent session in May 2007, the Board reviewed the Governments' response to the Board's questionnaire " Evaluation of the implementation of the international drug control treaties". The Board noted that as of 1 May 2007, a total of 90 countries and territories had submitted to the Board completed questionnaires.

The preliminary review of the returned questionnaires indicates strong support for the Board's effort to promote Government compliance with the international drug control treaties. Many countries provided comprehensive information in the questionnaire, and the Board would like to thank them for their cooperation in this regard.

In view of the importance the Board attaches to this matter, and in order to achieve a more meaningful evaluation of overall treaty compliance by Governments, the Board urges countries and territories that have yet to respond to provide the completed questionnaire at the earliest opportunity, but not later than 30 June 2007.

All information received from Governments will be reviewed and analyzed, and the outcome of the review will be published by the Board, highlighting progress as well as shortcomings in drug control since the 1998 UNGASS.
