INCB President addresses International Forum on Afghanistan, in Moscow
The President of the International Narcotics Control Board,
Professor Hamid Ghodse and the Secretary of the Board, Mr. Jonathan Lucas, participated in the
International Forum "Drug Production in Afghanistan: A Challenge to the International Community" "Establishment of a broad-based anti-drug coalition" being held in Moscow from 9-10 June 2010.
The Forum was opened by the President of the Russian Federation and was attended by heads of anti-drug authorities and law enforcement agencies from various countries, Russian and foreign experts, representatives from such international organizations as the United Nations, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, NATO and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Mr. Antonio Maria Costa, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), also addressed the Forum.
The Forum focused in particular on stepping up the fight against drug trafficking from Afghanistan by the international community represented by leading figures and experts in national and international drug control agencies, worldwide.
