Vienna, 25 March - The INCB Annual Report, prepared in accordance with the three international drug control treaties, examines the global drug control situation, and makes recommendations to Governments and regional and international organizations. The thematic chapter of the INCB Annual Report for 2020 is on "a hidden epidemic: the use of drugs among older persons". The Report includes an analysis of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on availability of controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes, on the provision of prevention and treatment services, and on illicit drug markets. The Report addresses regional developments, the continued problem of illicit use of methamphetamine and opioids as well as the non-medical use of cannabis. The Report is accompanied by a special supplement marking the anniversaries of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs and the 1971 Convention on Psychotropic Substances, as well as the 2020 Precursors report.

The launch of the INCB annual report for 2020 coincides with the sixtieth and fiftieth anniversaries of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs of 1961 and the Convention on Psychotropic Substances of 1971.
