INCB First-Vice President holds consultations with the President of the ECOSOC

Vienna/New York, 26 July - The First Vice-President of the International Narcotics Control Board, Ms. Jagjit Pavadia, held consultations with the President of the Economic and Social Council, H.E. Mr. Oh Joon, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations in New York, prior to presenting to the Council the Board's Annual Report 2015, the special report of the Board on Availability of International Controlled Drugs and the Report of the Board on implementation of Article 12 of the 1988 Convention. Topics of discussion included the ongoing cooperation between the Board and the Council, the outcome of and follow-up to the special session of the General Assembly on the world drug problem held in New York in April 2016, as well as major recent drug control developments around the world.

In the context of her visit to United Nations Headquarters, the First Vice-President of the Board also held consultations with the President of the seventieth session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, and the Chef de Cabinet of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, Mr. Edmond Mulet, as well as bilateral meetings with the Permanent Representatives of Jamaica and Papua New Guinea to further the Board's dialogue with the authorities of those countries. Further meetings were scheduled, including with the President-elect of the seventy-first session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Peter Thomson, Permanent Representative of Fiji to the United Nations, and the representative of Mauritania to the United Nations.
