Capacity Building Training for Algerian Law Enforcement officers

6-8 November 2023 Algiers, Algeria - The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) Global Rapid Interdiction of Dangerous Substances (GRIDS) Programme conducted a capacity building training for Algerian Law Enforcement officers on awareness raising activities and intra-regional exchange of intelligence and cross-border cooperation using its global communication platforms.

The training was held from 6 to 8 November 2023 in the Police Science Laboratory in Algiers. The training brought together 21 officers from Police and Customs. The training enhanced the knowledge of the officers on different types of drugs, methods of smuggling drugs, awareness raising of non-medical synthetic opioids and new psychoactive substances and the effective use of the SINCB GRIDS Intelligence tool Project ION Incident Communication System (IONICS) to support domestic and international trafficking investigations.

The GRIDS Programme is supported by the Governments of Canada, Japan, and the United States of America. This event was made possible through generous support from the United States of America's Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.
