NEW INCB SECRETARY

Mr. Andrés Finguerut (United Kingdom) has been appointed as Secretary of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) and Chief of the INCB Secretariat.   He succeeds Mr. Jonathan Lucas, who took up the position of Director of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) in Turin, Italy, in May 2011.  

Prior to his appointment as Secretary of INCB, Mr. Finguerut served as Secretary to the UNODC Governing Bodies.  He also has served in various capacities in UNODC, including in the Office of the Executive Director, in the Division for Operations, and in UNODC field positions in Mexico, Central America and Colombia.  

Mr. Finguerut holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Politics from the University of Reading, and a Master of Science Degree in Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London.  He is fluent in English and Spanish; he will take up his appointment at the beginning of 2012.
