Born in 1957. National of Thailand. Retired Professor of Psychiatry at Prince of Songkla University, Thailand.

Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Prince of Songkla University, Thailand; Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists of Thailand (F.R.C.Psych.T); Master's in Medical Science (M.Med.SC Clinical Epidemiology), University of Newcastle, Australia; Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine (Ph.D. Psychiatry), University of Sydney, Australia. 

Previously held position as Head, Department of Psychiatry (2001-2005) and Senior Lecturer, Department of Epidemiology (2009-2025), Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University; Director of Centre for Alcohol Studies (2015-2025) and Centre for Addiction Studies (2014-2017, 2019-2020) under the Thai Health Promotion Foundation; Member of the Administrative Committee for Substance Abuse Academic Network (2002-2020) of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, Thailand; Member of the Sub-committee for Training and Examination for Diploma of the Thai Board of Psychiatry (2006-2015) and the Thai Board of Addiction Psychiatry (2017-present) of the Medical Council of Thailand; Member of the Sub-committee for Treatment and Rehabilitation for Persons with Alcohol Use Disorders (2012-present) and the Sub-committee for Academic Affairs (2015-2022) under the National Alcohol Control Committee, Ministry of Public Health.

President of the Asia Pacific Society for Alcohol and Addiction Research (APSAAR) (2019-present); Member of the WHO Technical Expert Group on Alcohol and Drug Epidemiology (2009-2025); Member of the WHO Work Group for the Development of ICD-11 - Disorders due to Substance Use and Addictive Behaviours (2011-2016), Public Health Implications of Addictive Behaviours, and the IARC Handbooks for Volume 20B on 'Alcohol Control Policies' of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (2023-2025); Member of the WHO Guidelines Development Groups (GDG) for the Identification and Management of Substance Use and Substance Use Disorders in Pregnancy 2014 and the mhGAP guideline update 2021.

Author and co-author of numerous publications in addiction medicine, mental health problems and non-communicable diseases, including the Oxford Handbook of Addiction Medicine (Editions 1-3) and the ISAM Textbook of Addiction Treatment: International Perspectives.

Member of the International Narcotics Control Board (since 2025) [1].
