INCB holds I2ES User Group meeting during 59 th session of the CND

Vienna, 18 March - Over 30 experts from 21 countries participated in the user group meeting of the International Import and Export Authorization System (I2ES) for narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances held at the margin on the 59 th session of Commission on Narcotic Drugs.

At the meeting, the secretariat of INCB presented an overview of I2ES and its operation since its launch in March last year.  Ms. Gamze ÖZBİLEN ÖZTÜR of the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency and Ms. Monica JOOS of Swissmedic shared their expertise and national experience of implementing I2ES in their countries. They highlighted key factors to be considered by competent national authorities planning to issue and exchange import/export authorizations via I2ES.

The meeting afforded Government officials of participating countries a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas on bringing about the implementation of I2ES and provide feedback to INCB and the information technology service of UNODC on future action and further development of the system.  

The User Group emphasized the importance of ensuring the largest level of enrolment and usage of I2ES by the competent national authorities of Governments around the world and encouraged them to register to use I2ES at https://i2es.incb.org/User/Create
