INCB holds a workshop on "Successes and challenges of public-private partnerships in preventing the diversion of chemicals"

Vienna, 10 May 2016 - The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) will hold a three day workshop on "Successes and challenges of public-private partnerships in preventing the diversion of chemicals". Over 50 participants from 18 countries, among them representatives from national law enforcement and regulatory authorities,  industry, and international and regional organizations, will discuss the merits and potential of public private partnerships in preventing the diversion of precursor chemicals. Furthermore, the workshop will provide an opportunity to  exchange best practices, in particular associated with establishing and implementing public-private cooperative agreements, drawing particularly on the lessons learned by those countries which have either introduced or are currently developing such agreements.

Considering that diversion of precursor chemicals can occur at any stage during the distribution chain, including during transportation, a representative from DHL will, for the first time, participate in the workshop to share experience and challenges related to precursors control.
