INCB participation at UNGASS side events

The INCB delegation participated in interactive panel discussions during side events conducted in parallel with the UNGASS plenary.

The INCB President, Mr. Sipp, participated in a side event on "a public health approach as a base for drug policy: the Portuguese case". On the same day, the INCB President also addressed another side event on "Towards evidence-based public health policy: the successful Czech model of decriminalization". Mr. Sipp's statements at these two events outlined the flexibility provided by the conventions with regard to the punishment of drug-related offences of a minor nature.

The INCB President also addressed the audience at a side event on "Addressing global disparities in access to controlled substances for medical purposes, with focus on treatment and pain relief, while preventing diversion and misuse".
