INCB experts provide training in Colombia  

 

Bogotá/Vienna - 12 December 2019 - At the invitation of the Government of Colombia, INCB carried out in Bogota two-day training , on 11 as 12 December 2019, for the competent national authority and other Government officials on the requirements of the international drug control treaties regarding the regulatory, licencing and reporting obligations under the international drug control conventions of 1961, 1971 and 1988.

The training event, organised by the Ministry for External Affairs, was opened by Ambassador José Renato Salazar, Director of Multilateral Political Affairs. The INCB delegation was composed by Stefano Berterame, Chief of the Narcotics Control and Estimates Section, and Beate Hammond, Secretary of the Standing Committee on Estimates.

Over two days, the INCB secretariat presented topics related to the functioning of the international drug control systems and the requirements of the Conventions that need to be met for its proper functioning, matters related to the regulation and management of controlled substances for medical and scientific purposes, as well as statistical reporting to the Board under the three conventions.

The topic of ensure access to and availability of internationally controlled narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for medical or scientific purposes was also discussed.
