INCB Learning held a regional awareness-raising workshop on 5 December 2019 in Moscow, Russian Federation on the availability of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances for medical and scientific purposes. The workshop, that was hosted and co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, brought together regulatory and law enforcement authorities of Russia, health care professionals, NGOs and civil society, as well as representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the international community.

Dr. Melita Vujnovic, WHO Representative and Head of Country office in the Russian Federation, opened the workshop together with  Vladimir Tarabrin, Director of the Department on New Challenges and Threats of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, INCB Secretariat and representatives of palliative care association, who discussed the importance of ensuring adequate access to controlled substances for pain management and the treatment of mental health and other conditions. The relevance of continuous training and awareness-raising workshops was highlighted.
