Capacity Building Training for Egyptian Anti-Narcotics General Administration
Cairo, 4-5 March 2024 - The International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) Global Rapid Interdiction of Dangerous Substances (GRIDS) Programme conducted a capacity building training for officers from the Egyptian Anti-Narcotics General Administration on awareness raising activities and intra-regional exchange of intelligence and cross-border cooperation using its global communication platforms.
The training was held on 4 and 5 March 2024 in the Egyptian Anti-Narcotics General Administration in Cairo. The training brought together 15 officers from Police.
The training enhanced the knowledge of the officers on different types of drugs, methods of smuggling drugs, awareness raising of non-medical synthetic opioids and new psychoactive substances and the effective use of the SINCB GRIDS Intelligence tool Project ION Incident Communication System (IONICS) to support domestic and international trafficking investigations.
The Board's Global Rapid Interdiction of Dangerous Substances (GRIDS) Programme and Project ION and OPIOIDS Project support Governments' capacity to respond to changing trafficking, illicit manufacture, marketing and sales of NPS, non-medical synthetic opioids and fentanyl-related substances by providing real-time communication, facilitating information exchange and intelligence development that interdict distribution of dangerous substances.
The GRIDS Programme is supported by the Governments of Canada, Japan, and the United States of America.
