The framework for the international control of narcotic drugs is established by the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs in 1961. Additionally, the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) and its subsidiary body, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), have issued a number of resolutions reiterating the provisions and expanding the framework of control of the 1961 Convention.
