The Operational Partnerships to Interdict Opioids' Illicit Distribution and Sales (OPIOIDS) Project is an INCB global initiative supporting national authorities and international organizations' efforts in preventing nonmedical synthetic opioids from reaching people.

Member States have recently acknowledged with grave concern the international challenge posed by the illicit manufacture, trafficking and non-medical use of synthetic opioids. The synthetic opioids crisis is fueled by voluminous anonymous open and darknet transactions, cryptocurrencies and difficult to detect letter and e-commerce packets shipped through international post and express couriers. INCB is implementing practical solutions for synthetic opioids and fentanyl-related challenges.

The activities and partnerships developed under the Project are designed to effectively provide a balanced, practical approach to the collection and communication of actionable information and operational intelligence of these substances to support the work and safety of relevant first-responders.
